Quite amazing unused rolls of early 1960's mural wallpaper
The design 'Mystic Seaport' is an old world dock scene and entirely handprinted.
Consists of 5 rolls in total, 4 make up the picture and are 10ft long and 2½ wide each. The other roll is plain sky blue (matching the mural) and is designed to fill the rest of the wall on each side. This is 45ft long and the same width. If my maths is correct this makes a coverage of approx 19sq metres.
There is some damage to to mural rolls, each has a tear at the top downwards ranging from 66cm to 96cm BUT the picture rolls are designed to be cut to the height of the room so this damage can be minimised according to room height and by the placing of the mural (higher would use less torn roll) Of course, skillfull wallpapering will also disguise any tears. When measuring up, please bear in mind any loss from trimming the 4 rolls. None of the tears reaches as far as the picture itself.
The picture itself, over the 4 rolls, is a really impressive 10ft wide and 4½ft tall.
A bit of background, still in it's original box, this was purchased in America from Schumacker's in 1964 (although the design could easily be 1950's in origin) and brought over to the UK a few years later and lived in an attic ever since. Perhaps it was never used because of the damage when it was first opened?
There are a few examples of these in place on the net heres a nice page but I can't find a single example for sale unused.
