Huge Egyptian wall hanging.
Amazing Ancient Egyptian embroidered wall hanging featuring hieroglyphics and a much detailed battle scene with intricate decorative borders.
Applique embroidery onto a heavy cotton backing, judging by the aging of the cotton and the detail of the backing this could well be early 20thC, possibly produced as a souvenir in the 1920's or 30's following the surge of interest in Egypt after Tutankhamuns tomb discovery.
Similar hangings, a quarter of this size, fetch into the high hundreds but we're unable to find anything even approaching this scale.

The back has brass curtain rings to attach to a pole.
Measurements are 305cm x 252cm (there's even a chair in the picture for scale)
