Extraordinary Aboriginal crocodile artwork measuring a huge 261cm x 144cm
Acrylic on canvas and approx 20/30 years old with ultra vivid colours and very little wear or cracking to the paint.
Signed Yondee who is Yondee Shane Hansen a respected Australian artist with work widely available on Australian art sites where pictures this size and smaller generally sell for $4000/$5000 AUD
Yondee generally works in more abstract styles now but we've found similar work for sale under his name on respected sites (screen shot included) so we believe this is an earlier work. How it found its way over to the UK is a mystery but I acquired it with a number of others some of which were dated late 1990's.
I won't speculate on the meaning of the image as, having done a little research into Aboriginal art, it's clearly rich with symbolism and history, the visible skeleton for instance and the rivers of dots flowing out.
Overall a very rare, very large, very impressive piece. We've rolled it up after photography (it's never been folded) and will send rolled and tubed via courier.
