Large Don Tjungurrayi Aboriginal dot art work.
Part of a large collection we were lucky enough to acquire from a collector in the UK
Its named across the top Don Tjungaria which we assume to be a simple misspelling/version of the correct name as Tjungaria has no results at all on search engines. A search of Tjungarrayi reveals him to be a prestigious and celebrated artist with a long career.
The inscription also reads Warumpi Arts and, presumably a serial number/works number DJ1000635
The Warumpi Arts Centre was an Aboriginal run exhibition space in Alice Springs, now defunct, there's an interesting Guardian article on it here Warumpi Arts
The painting itself is acrylic on canvas and large at 132cm x 103cm. The style is very similar to one of his best known works 'Initiation Ceremony' painted in 2002 and detailed HERE along with more info on the artist himself
