1950's J Arundel Massey Pastel Picture
James Arundel Massey was mainly active in the 1950's /1960's and lived in Chesterfield , Derbyshire (not to confused with his father James Arundel)
He painted in a few styles but did several portraits in pastels of which this is an excellent example.
The subject matter, portrayed in shaded browns, is intriguing, an old man (or possibly woman) with an almost aboriginal appearance (its not known if Massey travelled that far)
Glazed in a nicely layered frame in overall excellent condition
